S.O.A.P.
When we began to prepare to plant this church, the first thing we did was to do nothing but be still, read God’s Word, pray and listen. It was a wonderful time, each week it was exciting to see how God spoke to each person involved, confirming, challenging and encouraging.
I believe that it is important that we hold on to that first practice and integrate into the life of this church. Therefore beginning Monday, August 3rd I want to encourage you to join me on this journey of digging deep into God’s word, side by side. The model we will use is known by the acronym of SOAP
- Scripture
Select one scripture from your daily reading that particularly spoke to you and write it down in a journal. - Observe
Write a couple of sentences or more of your observations from that scripture, as the Lord leads you, keeping things in context. - Application
Make an application to your life. Answer the question “What will I do differently because of what I just read?” - Pray
Spend some time quietly talking to God and listening to what He may have to say to you. Write down the key things that you are praying for.
Finally I encourage you to share what you are learning, by posting a comment each day on this website for the particular passage that is being focussed on that day.
I am excited to see where God leads us!
