The Alpha course is a 10 week practical introduction to the Christian faith that offers answers to some questions that you may have been asking yourself like:
Who is Jesus? How Does God Guide us? How Can I Resist Evil?
The Alpha course will begin on Thursday, February 2 and finish by Thursday, April 6. We will be meeting in the Family Life Center of the Grace campus. Each evening begins with dinner at 6:30 followed by a video lesson by Nicky Gumbel and small group discussion, ending promptly at 8:30 pm. There is NO cost for the course and NO homework. A donation for dinner is appreciated.
There will be sign up sheets on the bulletin boards by mid December through January. Please consider attending and feel free to invite your friends and neighbors. We’re praying that you will come!
Not a Fan
Twenty times in the New Testament, Jesus issued a compelling and challenging invitation to follow him. He’s not interested in mere fans. He doesn’t want enthusiastic admirers. He wants completely comitted followers.
This unconventional small group study is a cinematic journey through a series of six mini-movies providing a unique perpsective to help shape today’s believer into a first-century Chrsit follower. Follow the journeys of Eric Nelson, a man leading a compartmentalized triple life as a pleasure-seeking rebel, a cutthroat corporate executive, and a nominal Christian. When confronted with a near-death experience, Eric embarks on a spiritual journey that transforms his commitment to Jesus Christ and tests the faith of his friends and family.
Financial Peace University
Millersville Community Church recently wrapped up its first Financial Peace University program. This course, aimed at teaching sound and godly financial management skills, has gained nationwide acclaim in recent years, and for good reason. My initial group of just nine participants, consisting mostly of non-members, collectively paid off more than $10,000 of debt during just the nine-weeks we met together, while accumulating $4,600 in savings! You could achieve similar results if you have the discipline to follow Dave Ramsey’s proven strategy.
Millersville Community Church is currently planning to follow up our first-time success by offering a second session of Financial Peace University. Times and dates have not yet been set and will in part depend upon the level of interest. So if these results sound exciting to you and you’d like to join in the savings, contact Bruce Heydt at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In Financial Peace University, Dave Ramsey and his teaching team walk you through the basics of budgeting, dumping debt, planning for the future, and much more. Local classes are made up of small groups of people who live in your area and are a great way to share ideas, be encouraged, and stay motivated. Classes meet for nine weeks and are led by a volunteer coordinator. One Financial Peace University membership per family is all you need to get started in a class. Registration costs $100, so this is no small commitment, but it will pay for itself many times over. I also hope to be able to offer some financial support to families who are unable to pay the full cost.
This program is especially valuable for newlyweds and recent grads, but it’s never too late to start managing money more wisely. Look for more details as our plans firm up. If you know you are interested, please get in touch and suggest some convenient times and dates. We want to do our best to accommodate your schedule.
